Crypto Industry’s PAC Backs Democratic Candidate in Virginia Special Election
Fairshake, the crypto industry's political action committee, has invested an additional $1 million into James Walkinshaw's campaign for Virginia's congressional seat. Walkinshaw won the Democratic firehouse primary, positioning him as the favored candidate for the September 9 general election. The district historically leans Democratic, giving Walkinshaw a significant advantage.
"We look forward to James joining the growing, bipartisan coalition in Congress that understands the importance of securing America's leadership in the next generation of technology," said Fairshake spokesman Josh Vlasto. The PAC's involvement underscores the industry's push to influence crypto-friendly legislation amid ongoing congressional debates.
Fairshake and its affiliated super PACs, Defend American Jobs and Protect Progress, have emerged as major players in the 2024 election cycle. Their support for candidates like Walkinshaw signals a strategic effort to shape policy in favor of digital asset innovation.
